Like A Drug is a novel centered on three, intertwined, 20-somethings lives, who live, work and party in their revitalized downtown area. Each pine for a person they believe they can have if they play it right: Megan- A young accountant at her first full time job after college. Not revealing her crush on coworker Richard carries risks. Russell- Manages an office building, biding his time till his infatuation with Renee bears fruit. Renee- A bar back at a local watering hole, wanting stability when it comes to relationships. Each is young, full of life, starting out in the world and haunted by an unfulfilling past. While their tactics have never borne fruit, they feel this time it will be different. Each discovers they are next to clueless as to what it takes to find the right person and coming of age at any age is never easy. Drunken or desperate decisions only add to their problems, causing each to question life, and whether they are just needy.
